Miscellaneous by the Metro

I was walking past the Austin Metro Rail and I saw this pleasant little combo - a generic soulless shoe and a dried up lighter. Are they connected? Did the spent lighter cause a flash action to dart out of the current environment like a cat with a possible purpose. I don't know either, but I still like to ask these questions.

Spindletop Shop Hoppers

Oh, this one looks tired, some would say exhausted. I found this while driving through, what could be called, a shopping district near Beaumont, Texas. This shoe style is what people wore when Spindletop was booming, oil was spewing, and people were making it rain before they knew how to. Although, if you were wearing these you were likely in a drought. We've been through about 6 wars, 5 financial busts, a few recessions, and people are still wearing the same ragged style—except they're uglier now. No loss here, just do a dance, pray for rain, and then take yourself shopping.

A Typical Day at the Beach

Finding this did not really surprise me at all. I could only expect it came from a half-buzzed, fully-baked tourist who ultimately walked back a Juno Beach condo with no flips on the feet but one flop in the bag. This seems pretty typical.

From Hong Kong to Austin

I hope this hotel slipper had a nice travel. This is slightly amazing to me. I mean, why was this slipper even outside of the Hong Kong W Hotel it originated? Why is it on the other side of the world? Why is it missing it's left sided partner? Who was shuffling around downtown Austin in white slippers? I guess I can only thank you for the moment of ponder.
